The Baby-Sitter’s Club Returns

While reading up for another post I ran across something that I totally missed when news came out last week…The return of BSC book series. The little girl in mean squealed. I owned almost all of the books back in my elementary days, it was the Harry Potter of the last 80s/early 90s. But excitement turned to disappoint when reading that not only is Scholastic going to release book series they are also going to revamped the first few books to “updated” them. Why? If new girls of the 21st century want to start reading BSC then they should read it in it’s original print edition. Revamping a classic series takes away from why it was a classic to begin with. were written.
Despite this, the good that comes out of it is that original author Ann M, Martin wrote a prequel “The Summer Before” to the start of the BSC something exciting for us readers that are now adults. It will be nice to revisit the series even if it will be written for the very younger age group. The release and prequel are set for a April 2010 release.

Since they are revamping everything, I may now keep my collection. And here I was trying to figure out how to unload them.
Back Up And Running/New Layout

Trendy Reel is back up and running!! Also with the passing of DJ AM last Friday decided to put up a tribute layout. While some maybe saying “who cares about this guy”, it’s always sad when those of our generation pass away too young. It’s now looks as if he unintentionally mixed the wrong drugs together which makes it even sadder. R.I.P.

The Day Google Crashed

If you were one of the fortunates who tried to access a aray of Google apps around 9 a.m. est you then joined thousands or others who couldn’t access anything Google. From Youtube to Gmail the server crash resulted in either very slow or no service at all to any Google application. Although some are saying it only affected certain U.S. cities, I think the crash sent all Google apps everywhere out of whack. This mornings down time also was a revelation that mostly half of the websites on the internet use some kind of Google app. First hand account shows that this morning for about a hour I could not access any website that used Google Analytics or Gmail and I am located in Washington D.C.

So what was the cause of this lasp? Google blames it on a traffic jam due to a error in their system.
Imagine if you were trying to fly from New York to San Francisco, but your plane was routed through an airport in Asia. And a bunch of other planes were sent that way too, so your flight was backed up and your journey took much longer than expected. That’s basically what happened to some of our users today for about an hour, starting at 7:48 am Pacific time.
An error in one of our systems caused us to direct some of our web traffic through Asia, which created a traffic jam. As a result, about 14% of our users experienced slow services or even interruptions. We’ve been working hard to make our services ultrafast and “always on,” so it’s especially embarrassing when a glitch like this one happens. We’re very sorry that it happened, and you can be sure that we’ll be working even harder to make sure that a similar problem won’t happen again. All planes are back on schedule now.
I’m sure today was a good day over at Yahoo!
