John Mayer~ Shocker, Rocker, But Is Not A Racist
Posted on: February 11, 2010No comments yet
I am in no way going to defend his use of the n-word or him comparing his member to a white supremacist. Those two statements were a stupid move on his part but I will defend him in that the point he was trying to make using the word was proven by the backlash he is receiving.
Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’”- Playboy Magazine.
In no way was he throwing out this slur in a way to demean blacks. I am black myself and I got that in the first read. He was saying that the term “hood pass” meant nothing in reality because as a white man there is no “pass” to allow him to say the n-word. No matter how many blacks like him he is still a white person. Oddly he proved his own point. We are in such a race sensitive state that any use of the word by someone other than an African American even in a non derogatory way will get you sent straight to social jail; no passing go, no collecting $200. As smart as John Mayer is, he used very poor judgment and I have no sympathy in regards to the public lashing he is receiving. He deserves it.
As with the other comment about not being attracted to black women, again there is nothing really wrong with the statement just that he worded it badly. He should have in no way compared his member to a white supremacist. What the hell John. No good. But going pass that flub, he as a person has a the right to be attracted to whoever he wants to be attracted to. So he doesn’t want to date black women…who cares. I have read a few pieces today were black female bloggers are so up in arms about it. Is it because he had the balls to say it outloud or are these women really that upset? I can’t even tell you how many times I have heard black women grope about black men marrying white women and then go on to complain about it for another 10 minutes with statements like, ‘Why are all the white women taking our black men.’ So what if these black men want to marry white women. It’s their lives not ours to hate on. One cousin of mine married a Japanese man, another married a Mexican; should I start going around angrily declaring my distaste for the Japanese and Mexicans ’stealing’ the black women of my family? No because it was all about who they were attracted to. I can see if John said he hates black women and thought they were ugly, but he didn’t. Everyone in this entire world is allowed to have preferences. He isn’t attracted to black women, I know alot who aren’t attracted to white men. Big deal, it’s life, move on.
Then there are other topics like the Jessica Simpson quote. I think most people don’t know or forgot what Jessica Simpson was like back during 2006-2007 when they dated. His statement about her definitely earns an apology from him, if she’s actual offended, but I can’t I feel too bad. Let’s just say I am not surprised he addressed her as being a sex object. But out of all of this, his statements about Jennifer Aniston are the ones that have been buried beneath the rubble.
Throughout the entire interview he held her in higher regard than J. Simpson, even interrupting the reporter after talking about Jessica’s drug sex to say how much he loves Aniston and would feel bad if she thinks he is lumping her in with the other kiss and tells, a point in the interview alot of the media outlets failed to quote. Ok if I was Jessica that would sting a little. Matter fact he said he loved Aniston a few times in the piece even mused a little that he in a way wished to still be with her. What they did quote however, was him explaining that Aniston wasn’t thrilled with twitter and tried to twist it into a him saying she was ‘old’. No, he’s actual right, Aniston has gone on record saying she isn’t into the new social media and is “computer illiterate.” Don’t see why that statement was a big deal other than it’s her birthday and why not drill it in that she is 8 years older. After yesterday, he is probably wishing he had listened to her a little better.
I’ve been a fan of Mayer’s music since the Continuum era in 2006 and purchased tickets to his upcoming Verizon Center show in D.C. before he started given these idiotic interviews. I have not been offended by his statements and have no plans to sell my tickets. Only sad about his choice of words because he is literally the best guitarist of this generation, and I hate that his talents are being overshadowed by the nonsense. He seemed very apologetic last night at his show in Nashville and on twitter. I really do think that it took him to hit this verbal rock bottom to see that he needs to change somethings maybe even hire new pr. Hopefully we can chop it up as the ending of this side of John Mayer. No more shock, just rock.

“Fame Kills” Tour Canceled.
Posted on: October 1, 2009No comments yet
Kanye West and Lady Gaga’s tour is over before it began.
Just days after announcing dates for an ambitious tour that was to kick off next month, the tour was canceled.
Live Nation announced the news on Thursday. The tour promoter says refunds will be issued. AP
This was set up to be THE tour to end the year. Sucks for fans but if Kanye gets the time off he needs, then good. Hopefully Kanye and especially Lady Gaga will reschedule the tour.
Kristin Cavallari Extends Her 15 minutes via John Mayer
Posted on: September 29, 2009No comments yet

I usually stay away from writing about the Z list stars of MTV reality shows because they are collectively annoying as hell but this is too funny to pass up. MTV’s The Hills premieres its new season tonight @ 10 p.m. and “star” Kristen Cavallari (yeah I didn’t know who she was until a few weeks ago either) was enlisted to drum up some press for tonight’s premiere. How else to do that in Hollywood but by name dropping and name drop she did.
Back Story: National Enquirer writer turned gossip blogger Janet Charlton made up a rumor via Page Six that Cavallari and singer/songwriter John Mayer were having as secret love affair for the past 2 years. Mayer was quick to hilariously deny such rumors on twitter as well did Cavallari who said it wasn’t true and that she only met him one time for five minutes.
Flash forward: This morning Cavallari, in a change of story, told Ryan Seacrest that she turned him down in that five minute meeting because she “didn’t want to be another notch on his belt”. And as you know it that quote was picked up by Us Weekly, People and every other popular gossip outlet as hoped.
She knows damn well John Mayer did not ask her out. This obvious publicity stunt shows not only the stupidity of Cavallari but also how someone would sell their soul all in the name of fame. Mayer semi addressed Cavalliri’s comment on twitter today and I give him props for keeping his cool.
He get’s a bad wrap on the female front; the media as they always do with celebrities found something negative to grab onto with Mayer. You know Cavallari woke up this morning and thought this would be the funniest thing to say because some how it’s come to the point that meeting John Mayer automatically means he hit on you. Move aside Spencer and Heidi there’s a new mediawhore in town!
Mayer has been making the gossip rounds lately anyway with rumors he was seeing ex Jessica Simpson although both have denied the claims repeatedly while the UK tabloids along with a few Us ones are saying he and recent ex Jennifer Aniston are on the DL again. This rumor has been around for about a month but neither Mayer or Aniston will comment. Regardless of his bedroom action, his new single “Who Says” hits radio waves this week while his new album “BattleStudies” is out November 17th.

VMA 2009: Recap
Posted on: September 14, 2009No comments yet
It wouldn’t be the MTV Video Music Awards if something unexpected and zany did not happen and that is why it is one of my favorite award shows.
MJ Tribute
The show got off with a bang from a amazing tribute to the King of Pop who’s sister Janet bookend the tribute performing their hit 1995 song “Scream”. Like to point out that you can not duplicate or imitate MJ, feel bad for that poor dancer who almost fell trying to do that famous lean forward move from “Smooth Criminal”.
Kanye’s Not So Glorious Moment
Next came the debacle everyone is talking about today, Kanye West stealing Taylor Swift’s thunder. Personally, Taylor Swift isn’t my cup of tea and no I don’t feel she should have won, but that is no reason for Kanye’s crazy ass to go on stage and act like a fool.
Later that night he issued a drunken apology that was later snatched from his blog. Today he is still apologizing.
I like Kanye, and I see where he’s coming from but he made a bad choice here. I feel bad for Taylor. She genuinely looked bummed when it happened and according to reports she cried back stage. Come on, you don’t make the cute, little country singer cry! I do think Kanye feels bad and he will get the backlash he deserves.
Russell Brand
Want to point out how embarrassed I was with how Brand kept going on and on about the Lady GaGa hermaphrodite rumor. She looked sorta embarrassed and I was embarrassed for her. Speaking of Lady GaGa, loved the whole Opera style performance but the blood pouring out at the end scared me. In the end Russell Brand did a heck of alot better hosting than last year. I think it was the New York vibe.
Jay-Z’s New York
Fresh off Friday’s 9/11 benefit concert, the Roc Nation leader ended the night with the perfect song. Everyone was feeling it and Lil’ Mama was feeling it too much. The MTV’s ABDC host randomly jumped on stage at the end with Jay-Z kinda brushing her to the back when he realized there was a extra on stage. LOL
Classy Beyonce
The Video of the Year winner graciously gave up her shining moment to Taylor Swift. Expected nothing less from her and Taylor really did deserve her moment.
And she gave a fantastic performance of the hit song.
Eminem’s Poker Face
If you watched throughout the night you would see that Lady GaGa’s outfits went from bad to just plain outrageous. When she won for Best New Artist, Eminem’s face summed up everyone’s feelings on the red prison she was in when she went on stage.
If you missed these highlights just log on to MTV.com catch the entire show. This will definitely go down in VMAs history.
Until next year.
Music Note:Can You Name The Jay-Z Album Covers?
Posted on: September 4, 2009No comments yet
Jay-z did a commercial for music engine Rhapisody and it’s cool. Throughout the video Jay-z recreates a few of his album covers so now I ask you can you name them? Answers after the cut.
Jay-Z’s latest Blueprint 3 hits stores and iPods Sept. 11th. He also announced this week that he will be hosting a benefit concert that night called “Answer The Call” @ Madison Square Garden and it will be broadcast live on music channel Fuse. Also the same night BET will be airing a special concert featuring Jay-Z @ 12 midnight. That’s not the only thing Mr. Carter is up too. He will be peforming @ the 2009 VMAs on Sept. 13th and the next night performing his hit song “Run This Town Alive” with Kanye West and Rhianna on the premiere on Jay Leno’s new prime time show. If that is not enough Jay-Z for you he will be on David Letterman next Wednesday. Phew.
He is also featured in the October issues of O Magazine and XXL. Ok I’m really done now.
Music Note:Jermaine and Friends to Do MJ Tribute
Posted on: August 13, 20091 comment so far
There are alot of MJ tributes in all forms already done and yet to come but his brother Jermaine along with Usher, Whitney Houston, John Mayer, Dioone Warwick, Lionel Richie, Wyclef John and Larry King’s wife Shawn King are set to remake Micheal’s song Will You Be There. Proceeds from the remake will benefit King’s Cardiac Foundation and an yet to be name Foundation that was supported by Micheal.
Usher, Dionne Warwick, Wyclef and Jermaine Jackson are joining Mayer, Richie and Houston in recording a remake of Jacko’s “Will You Be There.” Larry King’s wife Shawn, who is spearheading the tribute and sings on it as well, tells us she’s not sure if Jennifer Hudson — who sang the song at Michael’s over-the-top memorial last month — will be involved with the project, as she just gave birth. TMZ
There is also a tribute concert by King and Jermaine set for a Vienna Castle Sept. 26. No confirmed performers have been announced.
Music Note: MJ Still = $$$
Posted on: July 15, 2009No comments yet
Ok his siblings giving interviews is one thing but his siblings putting all of MJ’s personal business out there is another. Not only has La Toya talked but so has Jermaine and Tito. They are his brothers and famous in their own right but does the public need to know such details like how they staged a intervention? The man hasn’t even been buried yet and everyone is just spilling over with detail after detail about things Michael himself obviously didn’t want anyone to know.
And if that isn’t bad enough Us Weekly has now gotten their grubby tabloid hands on footage of MJ’s Pepsi commercial accident from 1984. I will admit I watched and don’t recall ever seeing such floating around before. In the video you see MJ and his brothers going through one take and then it cuts to take 6 where is shows Michael’s hair on fire and then shows how badly he was burned. I think the only good that can come from this being released is that yes he did indeed suffer a bad burn to his head.
For years there was speculation over this incident but everyone can see that it indeed happen and it was bad.
Since June 25th the media and public have been exposed to his private pictures, home videos, family members selling him out, doctors selling him out, documents from his 90s and 00s trials, a heartbreaking tribute from his daughter and now more unreleased footage. What else is there left to expose? Actually that question scares me. His toxicology report is due out by as early as Friday. It’s guaranteed to the the climax of this shitstorm.
A few months ago I thought I would be blogging about how great his opening show was for This Is It, not this mess. Ugh.
Music Note: BET Awards Will Honor MJ Sunday
Posted on: June 26, 2009No comments yet

An executive producer for the Black Entertainment TV Awards says Sunday night’s live broadcast from Los Angeles will honor Michael Jackson.
Producer Stephen Hill says the show will be dedicated to Jackson because of his influence on music and pop culture. Jackson died Thursday at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his Los Angeles home.
Hill says many of the celebrities who will appear on the show contacted BET to see how they could help prepare a tribute to Jackson.
Says Hill: “I think what you’re going to find is that acceptance speeches for awards will have nothing to do about the artists themselves, but about the influence that Michael Jackson had on them.”
